In 2010 we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of
the Reef Fish Identification Florida Caribbean Bahamas!
Paul Humann and Ned DeLoach published the first edition of Reef Fish Identification – Florida, Caribbean, Bahamas in the Fall of 1989. Since then the field guide has gone through 14 printings of three editions. The second edition received the Independent Book Publishers Ben Franklin Award for Best Reference Book of 1994. The success of the partner’s photographic fish identification guide to the tropical western Atlantic was soon followed by two companion volumes, Reef Creature Identification and Reef Coral Identification, which together make up the now famous Reef Set.
The popular, user-friendly format conceived for the tropical western Atlantic identification books spawned a series of fish identification books for other regions including the Galapagos Islands, the West Coast from California to Alaska, the Gulf of California to Panama and the tropical Pacific. Along the way, the partners also published Reef Fish Behavior. Their tenth comprehensive marine life guide, entitled Reef Creature Identification – Tropical Pacific, is scheduled to appear in the fall of 2010.
